The Challenge
Victoria Lodge is a charming guest house based in Salisbury.
The owner was having ongoing issues with their existing broadband provider – the connection was unreliable, and support was lacking. They also wanted to offer strong, reliable Wi-Fi throughout the building, including in every guest bedroom and shared area.
They’d tried a DIY fix using a standard router and a couple of Wi-Fi extenders, but it just wasn’t cutting it – there were still blackspots and inconsistent coverage.
On top of that, they were still tied into a contract with their current provider and facing early cancellation fees, which made the whole situation more complicated.
What We Did
Here’s how we helped bring their network up to speed:
- We carried out a full site survey to find the best spots for new wireless access points, ensuring full coverage across the guest house.
- Created two separate networks from a single broadband connection – one for each business running at the property – saving them from needing two contracts.
- Discreetly installed the access points and even colour-matched them to the wall paint so they’d blend in with the decor.
- Hooked up their wired devices to a central managed switch for a tidy and easy-to-maintain network.
- Got them set up with the CallSwitch mobile app, so they can make and receive business calls on the move.
The Results
