The Challenge

Café Velo was struggling with poor Wi-Fi – and it was affecting both staff and customers.

They’d already tried to fix things by adding four extra access points and splitting the broadband into four separate networks to ease the traffic. But instead of improving things, it actually made connectivity worse.

When Yappl visited for a site survey, we found that the access points were in awkward spots, and each one could only connect to a single network.

That meant the tills, card machines, and staff devices were often dropping out – and customers in the bar and guest areas weren’t having much luck with the Wi-Fi either.

What We Did

Here’s how we helped Café Velo get connected again:

  • We used the existing cabling to install two access points inside the café, carefully positioned for full indoor coverage and strong signal outside on the seating area too.
  • We set up two Wi-Fi networks: one for staff and one for guests, keeping things separate and running smoothly for everyone.
  • We also installed a custom phone system tailored to their needs.

The Results

A more affordable phone setup using a single CallSwitch licence and running the handset over broadband.

  • Much faster, more reliable internet across the property.
  • Solid Wi-Fi coverage that now reaches the outdoor seating area.
  • The café’s smart TV can now stream content with no issues, thanks to the better connection.
