With a world heavily reliant on visual updates and social media, it’s no wonder the latest Samsung range has a heavy focus on photography. The telephoto lens sees a significant update from the S10 – up from 12MP to 64MP on the S20, and 108MP on the S20 Ultra. Zoom capabilities have also been given a boost, with 3x optical and 30x super resolution zoom, and 10x and 100x on the S20 Ultra.
With a camera sensor 1.7 times larger than the S10, photos taken with the S20s cause less blur and noise in low light use. This is ideal for taking photos at conferences and events. The Night Mode option merges as many as 30 pictures to produce clearer images with reduced noise.
The S20’s high resolution video recording has doubled from its 4k predecessor, providing more allowance for cropping, editing and screenshotting from videos. As the S20 focuses on a seamless photography experience, the memory capacity is huge. When the 512GB base models are expanded with a separate MicroSD card, the 1.5TB max storage enters laptop-sized space territory.

When it comes to the physical design, not much has changed since the S10. The S20s are larger and heavier to accommodate for the massive battery, which has also knocked out any room for a headphone jack. The S20 has fewer colour choices than the S10, with each model available in only two or three options between pink, blue, grey and black.
The Quad HD screen reaches an impressive 6.9 inches on the Ultra, making the S20 closer to the Note sizes than the previous Galaxy models. The screen is aesthetic, with the bezels pushed right back and the notch removed completely. The only interference with the screen is the small selfie camera, meaning minimal distractions during conference calls.
There is a visible difference in the refresh rate, which has doubled to 120hz, making for far smoother scrolling. Like the S10, the S20 is also water-resistant for up to 30 minutes, and holds an IP68 rating.
